You get a $100.00 credit towards a new phone every two years, and there are also incentives to sign (2) year agreements. Also watch the papers and media ads because in this competitive world things change by the week, and you can upgrade to better plans once each month! 🙂

You can upgrade/downgrade to different plans "anytime with the Worry Free Guarantee". Some may extend your contract with Verizon Wireless when accepting new promotions(not the upgrade date though). The billing system in the West area only allows 3 billing changes in a cycle as to not totally screw up the acct though... And if you check out on-line deals sometimes they're better, they can sometimes offer better discounts and sell different phones that may not be available in the stores.

You need to wait 22 months technicallly, but in the west area anyways, new metrics were done that base upgrade on length of service and ARPU.

They're right but if you really can't wait for your 2 years to expire you can geta discount on an upgrade to the phone you already have. So if you have an LG TM-510 lets say (an oldy), and your only one year up on a two year contract, than you could buy an LG4400 which is an upgrade to your old phone at a discounted or promotional price. It comes out to like an extra fifty bucks or something. If you can hold out though it's worth waiting the 2 years exp. this way you can get a $100 off any phone. hope this helps. 😁

Huh? Uh, no... If you trade in your old phone you can get $50 off the full retail price of another phone through direct VZW stores, the above statement from Nine178 may be a Rad...

I am speaking from firsthand experience turtle.
I walked into a Verizon Wireless Store and was not finished with my 2 year contract. This was about a year ago and it was a regular VZW store not knowing anyone who worked there. I told them I wanted a new phone, they checked in the computer and said ok the two newer phones you are eligible for are...I picked which one I wanted and if I remember correctly I paid a small additional fee (around 50 bucks).
All I know is that it worked for me. But again it may be worth waiting until your 2 years is up for the full $100.
If I know something I will state it, and If I'm speculating or presuming, again I WILL STATE.

Nine178...

There's always exceptions made, that's cool that they did that for you. Because of accommodating a customers needs, and of course ARPU, exceptions can always be made. Some people don't like waiting the full 2 years cause cell phones are like computers, something new always comes out.

Yea, The longer this wait goes, the closer I get to my (2) year renewal and $100 credit in November. But I will find it interesting to see all of you guys reply when the next variant of the (yet to be released) 9900 comes out with a mega-pixel camera or a toaster or embossed beer bottle cap.

Ya know... actually I've seen people use Nokia phones as beer bottle openers, some how with the bottom of the phone, it's hella funny. They've put flashlights in phones. Who knows lol

I am surprised that NO ONE actually knows how the VZW upgrade policy works...here I'll explain it to you. It's pretty simple....i think...

2 year agreement:

Need to wait 22 months with handset before eligable for upgrade

(*if 22 months are completed with one handset customer will reviece up to $100 off price of next phone)

(**2 year agreement upgrade exception** If customer has had phone for atleast ONE YEAR AND is on a price plan of $49.99 or more...customer may upgrade EARLY with a promotional discount)

If customer upgrades after one year on a two year agreement...customer needs to wait full 22 months again before he/she will recieve New Every Two discount (100 dollars off).

Also...family share secondary lines are NEV...

*Customer with price plan access of $39.98 or below must have two (2) months or less remaining of their contract.

*Customer with price plan access of $39.99 - $74.99 must have four (4) months or less remaining on their contract.

*Customer with a price plan access of $75.00 or higher (High Value Customers) must have six (6) months or less remaining on their contract.

Note: This change to the Phone Upgrade Policy is effective 03-08-04 to 08-31-04
Customer's account must be current at the time the customer chooses to upgrade.

This is the current policy for the West Area, but you are correct on family share lines. $34.99 or above on access fees for regular upgrades to redeem the New Every 2 promo.
The Midwest, South Area (every...

I think my contract is up sometime in May, so I'm eligible for the NE2 discount right now. I was planning on waiting till July (hopefully) for either the 9900 or the v710. Does the $100 discount expire at all? Or can I just stay a verizon customer out of contract?

Thanks

The NE2 discount never expires as long as you are with VZW. The moment you switch to another carrier, or breach the contract in another way, then you lose it.

Well, if you go down to a plan that's $34.99 or less monthly you will lose the discount. But yes, you can be a month to month Verizon Wireless customer and not lose your discount. Even if you extend your calling plan agreement with a calling plan change you won't lose your new every 2 discount.
