Verizon is one of only two cellular carrier that refuses to provide the cellular numbers of its subscribers to the new Qsent Inc. 411 cellular directory. So unless you volunteer your number to someone to opt into the directory, Verizon will protect your privacy. There is no need for any Verizon subscriber to sign up for the Do Not Call List. That might just give the bad guys your number if they buy or steal the list.

Here's an article from the Washington Post:

"Verizon Wireless and the smaller U.S. Cellular have decided not to participate. Their customers won't be able to list their numbers through the new service, even if they want to.

"There's more reason today than ever for the wireless industry to protect customers' privacy,...

If you trust Verizon your a fool. They are getting sued daily for overcharges and false info. They are ruining Tampa with all the digging mistakes. They are in business too make money anyway they can. Denny has too make money or the stockholders will oust him like yesterdays news. Verizon uses quotas for their salespeople who will tell you anything to sell you. Besides it's easy for companies to get cell phone numbers just like email addresses. Every salesperson has their number on their business card as does a large number of other business people. Get real.

I don't know about any of us being fools, but I happen to have faith in Verizon when they state that they do not sell their subscribers information.

I've been with Cellular One/GTE Wireless/Verizon, since the early 90's. They have ALWAYS denied selling customer lists, and out side of personal referrals, I have NEVER received solicitation calls on my cell phone.

REGISTER YOUR CELL FOR THE DO NOT CALL LIST!!!

Not for fear of Verizon or any other carrier selling your cell number, but because...

Federal Law prohibits telemarketing calls to wireless phones. Any company that knowingly participates in such solicitation is subject to fines and legal action. Even if there is a national wireless directory, and your number becomes public record, it is and will continue to be illegal for telemarketers to contact your wireless phone.

Since Verizon Wireless is not participating in the national wireless directory, there is no concern for their customers in regards to their information being shared.

You can also register your phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry (www.donotcall.gov); however, this is a false hope bureaucracy as well. I have my phone registered on the National Do Not Call Registry, and I still occasional recei...
