Yeah, you pay your deductible and the insurance company will provide you with another (comparable) phone (may not be the same brand).

Yeah and don't forget $50 deductible they charge and all the money you spent for insurance over the months, that reburb phone will cost more than the new one did.

Hey, I just broke my phone, the frame around the antenna, Mon. I called Thursday, to Asurion Ins. and I got my brand new phone Friday. I could hardly beleve it, but I assume they just had some in at the local store, here in Bainbridge, GA, and shipped it from there. That was too quick. ๐Ÿ˜

Did you have insurance through VZW? Is Asurion Ins. the provider for VZW's insurance? I thought you have to contact VZW in order to get the phone replace & you can't contact the insurance company directly. Did they replace the phone with the same model? Is it new or refurb? Can you clarify how you do that?

Yes, I had insurance through VZW. Asurion is the provider. Even before visiting the VZW store, the tech told me to contact Asurion. But I went to see if he could replace the part of the frame that was broke. Anyways, he told me to contact Asurion and they did send a brand new 9900 vox. ๐Ÿ˜ณ ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ˜Ž I hope this answers your questions.

Verizon can't sell you insurance. They can only give it to you when or if you buy your phone through them. again, no insurance on C.P.E (customer provided equipment)

what if i already pay the monthly fee for handset insurance and have been for a couple years? they would still recognize it as a CPE and not honor it? or would the third party insurance not have any way of seeing that?

Itโ€™ll show on your account, on the phone history CUSRQ (customer request). Then itโ€™ll be commented as โ€œ(Date)- customer activated CPE.โ€ย Then when a problem occurs and you call Asurion, theyโ€™ll see that comments and know that the equipment was not purchased at VZW store.
Be aware, most employees specially the newer ones, are not aware of this rule. They wont remove your insurance unless you request for it. Make sure you speak to an employee who has been with the company for over two years, so they can help you out properly.

Verizon Wireless isn't an insurance company, so they don't do the replacement on the phones. Wireless Phone Protection (aka Insurance) is provided by a third-party (either Asurion or Lockline depending on your local market). Usually they'll have a supply of new or refurbished handsets of the same model for a period of time; although, their agreements do indicate that model substitution is allowed and you have no say in the matter.

To confirm another point that someone made, technically the WPP providers won't cover handsets that don't have a proof of purchase. If you can provide supporting documentation on your purchase, then you're okay. A new rule that was implemented by the WPP providers is that you must enroll for WPP within the first...

Best suggestion would be to call the appropriate WPP provider for your service area to confirm if they would cover the equipment.
