voicemail speed dial

On this phone, the number 1 speed dial is assigned to voicemail (*86). I would like to add my access codes on a hard pause so that I can just press and hold 1 for two seconds to have it call my voicemail and then press the send button to enter my access code and let me get my voicemails without having to type in the code every time. I know that I can assign this to any speed dial other than 1, but is it possible to edit the pre-assigned voicemail dial on speed dial 1 to add my code in??

Now, why in the world would anyone want to store their private information? If you lose your phone, someone can access your voice mail. Would you write your access code on the back of your ATM card? Please, let me know 🤣

Sorry guitarguy, but I also have used Voicemail Speed Dial coded with my PIN for years. It is extremely convenient. It eliminates the requirement of removing the phone from the ear to dial more numbers in order to access voicemail.

Since my voicemail is rarely in the Top Secret category, and I don't work for the CIA, I'm not at all concerned about someone else accessing my voicemail under the extremely remote chance that I might misplace or lose my cellphone.

I would highly recommend one-button voicemail access to everyone who's not in the spy business. To access the message settings to modify the *86 Voicemail dialing sequence do the following:

From the standby mode press "MENU".
Press 394 to reach the "Edit Voice Mail Number" ...

Whoops... I forgot to add a few lines to the above procedure. It should read like this:

From the standby mode press "MENU".
Press 394 to reach the "Edit Voice Mail Number" screen.
You should see just "*86" on the screen.
Press the "Options" soft key.
Scroll to "2 Sec. Pause" and press the "OK" button. This will add a "T" after the "*86".
Enter your PIN immediately after the "T" (in my case, 4 digits followed by the # sign.
Press the "OK" button to save and confirm your new settings.
Press "CLR" key to return to the standby mode.

Sorry, your absolutley right! Now, what is your 4 digit access #. Being your not in the CIA and your VM is not top secret you would have no problem giving it to me right? HAHA only kidding. Actually, now you have me trying this and it works great! THANKS FOR THE INFO!

I had read in a thread somewhere that if you change the *86 to your phone number, it will be a mobile to mobile call and not charged if you have the plan. Is this true?
Thanks 🙄

We are not discussing changing the *86 to your phone number. We are just adding a two second pause and a few more digits AFTER *86 is dialed and the system responds.

Interesting.......!! It works for getting your messages and should be a free n network call. The only way to check for sure is to check your bill and see how it is listed for that call.

If someone has done it and knows for sure, lets hear from your.

I'm afraid, according to Verizon, that we are still charged minutes if we access VM by dialing our own number. I checked twice and both times got the same answer.
