Battery Life

I'm on day 4 of the 9900 and have some concerns regarding battery life. With limited use (30 min talk, 45 min mobile web, no phone or video) each day, the phone needs to be charged every night. The battery indicator drops to one bar within a single day.

I realize that the 9900 has a lot of power consuming features, including the large bright screen. Its nice to have the mobile web and its near impossible to avoid a camera, but my primary interest is as a phone with a decent battery life - I'd give up the screen.

I'd be interested to hear owner's experience with the battery life on this phone, because if this is any indication of what is to be, its going to be returned.

Mobile web 2.0 uses up a lot of battery power cause of it's graphics. If you feel there is a problem, you should exchange it and try another and if it's still not working good for you, just get an LG3200 has fantastic talktime.

Must be the mobile web using up the battery. I talk on mine for about 30 minutes a day, plus send text messages and use the scheduler, calculator, etc. and mine goes down to one bar only every 3 days!

I tried an experiment where I used the phone for only two 1 minute calls and the battery ran down completely in only 3 1/2 days. That doesn't come close to the 15 days listed on the Verizon web site for the CDM9900. Can I go back to the store and request a new battery? Would that fix it or could it be the pbone itself?

Anytime you open the phone or the display comes on or it receives a phone call or message, even if you do not answer it, it uses battery power. Also, depending on how and where you travel, it uses battery power when switching towers or looking for a tower. If you cross into a roaming area, it can drain it pretty fast.

3 1/2 days is not bad at all. Just put it on charge and you should be ready to go again. Ebay has some excellent prices on both the travel charger and the car charger in case you want to keep one different places. Some phone, like the Moto 710, you have to charge everyday! So be thankful and just enjoy it!!!! 😁

I know the phone is not switching to analog which uses more power. The problem is the phone has a listed 15 days of standby and I am not even coming close to that rating.

And As I indicated I only used the phone to receive two 1 minute phone calls while, I was testing the standby reserve.

What is Verizons typical response to this issue for a new phone?

I set my display for 8 seconds, screen brightness to low, that seems to have helped a bit. I can now get at least two days out of it. I was also surprized to see that the display comes on so frequently. Now when it does come on it only stays on for 8 seconds, kind of a pain once in a while but not too bad. If there is a hack to lower the screen brightness, that might help. Any other ideas???? thanks- Armitech.

I have to tell you...I last charged my battery sunday night/monday morning, have made about 40 min of calls, have NOT used mobile web or get it now (which would use power on the screen), and just this afternoon (day 3 of use), did my battery go down to 2/3 full.

wow...that sounds like my average day usage...maybe I have a bad battery? But I don't mind charging it every night. So long as it holds up when I'm not home...but I got a car charger for that...and the travel charger is very convenient for sticking it in my purse or backpack on overnight trips or whatever...

Battery life is all depending on how you use the phone. I usually charge it every 2 days. There is nothing wrong with charging it every night either. I have yet to use a color screen phone that has a better battery life, certainly not the samsung a670 😡
