Annoying Verizon banner on the outer display?

Does anyone familiar with the 8900 screen switching from what you actually WANT to see to the "verizon" banner (as if we need to be reminded where our bill comes from) know whether this totally annoying feature is present on the 9900?

unfortunately yes... but... instead of blinking all the time it only does it when u recieve an incoming call it switches between the caller id and the banner first ring caller id second banner and so on, on the inside lcd it doesnt bother cause it doesnt block the caller id it just switches between incoming call and the banner....

bottom line still annoying but not as the 8900.

Are you sure? Because I don't see the Verizon banner flashing on my outside screen when I receive a call.

Believe it or not, this feature is "make it or break it" for me! It's THAT annoying! So I would love to know before I buy!!! 😕

Mine does not do this, although it might be because I made my own banner on the inside. Above the time and date (small digital) has a little message (banner) I wrote in myself. When I receive a phone call it says incoming (on top) and then the name and number (on the bottom). If mine does do this obviously it's not that much of a bother because I haven't noticed it!

One thing I have heard that my phone doesn't have is the number of missed calls displayed on the outside of the phone. It has a little icon for missed calls and an arrow pointing to the inside of it. When I open the phone it says how many I have missed and the most recent phone number or name.

Please tell me how you did this. I have been searching for a way to do this for several days, and there are no instructions in the manual.

Here is a repost. I just noticed that my phone does flash between the Verizon banner and the person who is calling on the outer display but I can tell you this, It switches fast unlike the 8900 which stayed on the screen for about 5 seconds at a time. But it does not flash the Verizon banner when there is no call coming in. Which is a big plus compared to the 8900.

You guys are all so funny! The banner that you guys see is called an E.R.I (enhanced roaming indicator) its not a manufacture thing its a setting that goes along with your prl. It will be a few weeks before we have the software to load onto your phone a prl that does not have the eri.

Is it a roaming indicator on the 8900? If this is something that can be fixed with software, it may keep my husband from throwing this phone off a bridge!

yeah, go to a verizon communications store and ask them to flash you the current prl but without the eri.

vzwtechno...there seems to be some confusion. Is it possible for you to find out if the outer LCD should show the number of missed calls, or just an icon. I could swear that when I first got my phone, it displayed the number of missed calls when I didn't answer it. Now it only shows an icon of a phone with an arrow pointing to it.

Thank you.
