My issues with this phone

Hey all,

Have owned this phone for a few days now. I have two issues with it, otherwise a 5.0, but thinking of taking it back because....

1) The service I get with it is horrible. I should have gone with my gut instinct in the store when this phone had 1 bar and the phones near it had 3. I've been carrying around my old cell phone (Audiovox 9155) for the past few days and wherever I go, the 9155 has 1-2 more bars than the 9900.

2) I hear a bit of a crackling noise in the background whenever I'm on a phone call. Didn't hear this with the 9155. Even with full service, sounds like that "digital jargon background noise".

If anyone has any ideas/comments on this, please inform. Otherwise it might be back to the store for me on...

The reception seems to me to be as good as the CDM-9500. I occasionally hear a little static once in a while, but what the hell, I don't buy premium stereo sound systems anymore either. 25 years of flying and the environment military jet engines don't make me a judge of good sound anymore. My eyes "were" but aren't 20/20 too. Darn I hate getting old. 🙄

So are you guys saying that its normal to have one bar when my roomie's phone has two-three with this phone because its on a different "standard"?

No, I only express surprise! Because I have not experienced this problem on either the CDM-9500 or the CDM-9900?

On average, how many bars do you have? Mine is 1 bar.

Are we talking signal strength with the antenna up or down? With the antenna down, I normally get one bar inside my apartment, except when I move near an outer wall, then it increases to two. The antenna in the up position, usually increases signal strength by one bar Regardless, I've never had a reception problem, or a dropped call. Outdoors, I normally get three to four bars (antenna down).

That has been my expirence also, seems the antenna extended was always worth 1 bar, both on the CDM-9500 ans now on this phone the CDM-9900

I have the "digital jargon background noise" also. It is very quiet tho and i don't notice it unless no one is speaking at the time.

😁 So far, I think this outperforms my Audiovox CDM 9155 which I've had for 2.5 years and loved. This phone rocks!
