Alcatel one touch Idol
I bought this phone unlocked
The phone is very light, a bit sliperry but very comfortable to use and carry arround inside your pocket.
The display is way better from which can be found on lower end Alcatel phones. It's pretty good, colors are rich, maybe not as saturated as they are on OLED displays, but is has really good viewing angles and it's very bright.
Uses nearly stock android 4.1
Screen transitions aren't lightning quick but performance is solid and consistent, the user interface rarely stutters. Apps rarely crash, though the phone restarts for some reason after you install several apps (regardless the type of applications you install) it looks a lot like a bug to me.
The mediatek processor offers a really good performance when compared to Qualcomm chips of equal clock speed. Though, graphics performance is not nearly as good as the one offered by a phone powered by a Qualcomm or Nvidia chipset, and this is noticeable.
Camera is ok.
Shots are a bit soft and white balance is handled just "ok". It's not an outstanding camera but it's certainly far from being bad (As a point of comparison I'm using the cameras from the HTC inspire 4g and Samsung Infuse 4G)
In low light the flash helps, but pictures get a yellow-ish tone. It will alsol betray you if your subjet has grease on his/her face.
Front camera is not so good but it works.
The HSPA radio works just fine. Downloads average 5 Mb/s, the phone includes Google Chrome and the stock android browser.
In general, it is a good replacement for my old Samsung phone. I'll share some pictures I took with it if I write a review and post it.
It is a great phone for the bucks (not sure about the sale price in the US but you should check ebay, no major carrier has it already)
Not an actual review, I need to check the battery life since I've not played enough with this phone, coverage... I have to travel with the phone a bit looking for a challenging environment for the radio
