I read something along the lines of $350 w/ a 2 year contract. Why is this so much more expensive than the other camera phones? Is it due to the GSM or just it being a new phone?

My guess is both. It is after all one of a kind.

It is both, with VZW/Vodafone, you cannot get another GSM/CDMA capable phone. That alone puts it in the $275+ range. Then to add to that, it is brand new and indemand. This allows Verizon to charge what ever they really want. With companies, they choose VZW or Nextel?

Nextel with their horrible iDEN but Walkie Talkie capabilities make them wanted. If VZW came out with a phone like this that had a walkie talkie feature in it, and they actually perfected their Walkie Talkie network, every company who could switch providers would. Just imagine, this is a stretch, but Walkie Talkie on GSM mode so that you can Walkie Talkie across continents! (I know this is not even possible right now, but its nice to dream!)

It says samsung. Other samsung phones are MORE expensive(i600 and i700). Its actually the 2nd least expensive samsung we offer. Also, it's a PDA and the only of its kind. Be on the lookout for cheeper global phones from nokia or kyocera before or right after the consumer launch.
