Sanyo VM-4500 Recall

This is taken from the www.sprintpcsinfo.com website. I had a defective VM-4500 and have the new hardware model with ZERO issues!!! Finally it works:

What went wrong, what is being recalled, and why we haven't reported on this until now.

I know that a lot of people read this site daily, and that I can potentially cost Sprint a lot of money when I report something. So, when it comes to reporting on a recall of a flagship product, I become very hesitant unless I not only know all the information, but the extent to which the problem is occuring. The Hitachi G1000 has a recall out currently as well, I haven't reported on it because, well, the problem is so small, and most users aren't effected. I know that if I start running headlines ov...

Hi there, your comments are very interesting. I just purchased a Sanyo VM 4500 "Silver” haven't taken delivery of it yet from a reputable seller on EBay. Is the recall color specific (Blue or Silver) or I'm wondering after reading your review if I should have gone for the new Samsung VM A680 instead?

One other question, if I keep the phone and have any issues is Sprint okay to deal with on the swap? -Thanks George-SLC-Utah

This is a great phone. The Samsung is a nice phone as well but, the sanyo has a way bigger screen, a speaker phone, and all the other features of the A680. I have the Sanyo and love it. I would purchase the phone from a dealer just in case. You get to speak with a real human being. Instead of having to deal with websites that don't believe your situation. Trust me I know. 🙂

Totally agree with you, the VM4500 has every feature and more than the A680 and a far better (rather larger) screen. One feature the Samsung has is using a video clip as a screensaver, that's pretty nice.

Sorry , I found it on the site....but that is not a sprint website.....at the bottom of the page it clearly states that it's not.

So, this information may be bogess.

I'm a Sprint employee, this info has not been forwarded. The phone does have known issues and a new softwarerevision is being developed.
