I live in Orange County, Ca. and just upgraded my ATT phone service to GSM and got a Samsung X426. I like to phone features, but I am concerned about the inconsistant reception. It seems it is either great or non-existant. Is is the phone, AT&T, or the GSM? I seemed to do better with my old free Nokia on the digital system. Any ideas? Thanks!

My phone seems to get great reception. Unfortunately, for you, I live in Ohio, so my phone's performance may mean nothing to you.

My Friend has the LG4011 and his wife has the Sony Ericsson T226, and they also get good reception with AT&T.

The Samsung seems to have comparable reception to these other phones, so it may just be the AT&T signal in your area. Note, that AT&T's GSM network is considerably smaller than their older TDMA network. Although, their GSM network should grow when the fully integrate with Cingular.

I just hope the cost of my plan doesn't go up when I become a Cingular customer. Have you heard anything about that from AT&T?

Your cost on your plans and such will not get any higher. What you will see is better coverage. (want proof? check out the new GSM coverage as of the 18th of April at your local ATT CORPORATE store) Oh yea, FYI...You'll love the new plans...
