I have an sgh-x427. I got an earbud hands free thing or whatever you want to call it. They told me it was compatible but when i plug it in nothing happens. the plug seems to be the right size. Is there anything in the settings of the phone that has to be turned on to use it or is the earbud not compatible. i have two of the earbuds and two of the phones so i don't think anything is broken cause none of them work together.

The warranty states accessories must be made by Samsung to work. If you plug another 'universal" or "compatible' headset into the phone you HAVE VOIDED THE WARRANTY"
The problem is when another plug enters that switch it can misshape the contacts and cause them not to return to the proper seating causing the phone to think the headset is still plugged in so the speaker is shut off..rendering the phone useless unless a headset is plugged up...
