My first iPhone was 16G 3GS. Paid $150 & sold 2yrs later for $150. Spent 1st yr learning system. Loaded it with about 100 songs lots of pictures, maybe 1000 and some 50 home videos, average length 2Min. Long story-short - my next phone was iPhone 4 32G paid $170 used, sold it on 9/21 for $260 and bought iPhone 5 64G 2hrs later.... It holds 5000 pictures, 200 home videos and about 350 songs, maybe 120 APPs plus tons of audio recordings from included mic recorder. In other words you may do well to start with 16G and move up over time. I've had my iphone5 since 9/21 and couldn't be happier. Maps app is awesome but disappointed by features missing from Google Maps. Love the fit& finish, weight, thinness, & larger screen... Screen only 4" diagonal BUT about 3/4" longer. iPhone 4/4S now looks very dated to me....and very small. Especially the 3.5" screen and all the wide black areas above & below the screen. Just Very Dated. But If you want to buy books and store them on the phone with iBook APP maybe step up and get 32G....Do not get 64. Not till next upgrade. I'm waiting for 128G. Sorry 4 loong reply.
