So... already broken

Let's go to the mall!
Ok we should start our Christmas shopping.

*mall shopping

What time is it?
*pull phone out to check time

Why won't it turn on? What's going on?!
WHY IS THE SCREEN CRACKED?!?!

That's how it went down. There is a crack running across the screen. How? When? What happened?

I have no clue. Maybe I bumped into a corner. Maybe I leaned against a counter too hard.

Did not drop it. No rough contact. I've been handling this thing like a newborn.

Took it to the Verizon store with just a prayer that they'd be able to help me out. (been with ATT customer service for years, so I know how it goes)
But of course, physical damage, no warranty.

In the past, other phones have been warrantied when the LCD screen is cracked underneath the top layer of gorilla glass. As long as there is no physical or water damage to the phone other than on the sub-screen, you should still be covered. The first series of Droid RAZR's they put out had a similar problem that was eventually fixed. Reference that issue when you talk to the in-store rep and/or customer service rep on the phone. Should see a new phone overnighted to you without much of a problem.

I work for a Verizon retailer, and I've seen Verizon cooperate countless times with freak issues like this.
