The other part to all of this is that you forget that Nextel WILLINGLY sold their company to Sprint. Nobody forced them to abandon their "former path of greatness." They decided for themselves that a big wad of cash was more important than what might happen differently with PTT under a Sprint led regime. In other words, if anyone is to blame for Nextel's demise and later problems under Sprint, it's Nextel.
I'll agree to that, Nextel sold themselves to Sprint willingly, so Nextel is 100% to blame for THAT aspect of the equation. I've posted before that Tim Donahue (former Nextel CEO that presided over the sale to Sprint) should be so ashamed of himself he should renounce his US citizenship and slink off to another country with his tail between his legs.
Donahue might have become a greedy man that sold Nextel downriver, and for that he can not be forgiven, but the way Nextel was 100% MISmanaged after Sprint took over, is all on the heads of Sprint folk. Latter Sprint execs are doing a far better job, thankfully, but by then the damage was done. Just as Donahue can't be forgiven for his part in the sale of Nextel to Sprint, neither can Sprint be forgiven for what happened to Nextel AFTER the buyout.
And in the name of accuracy & fairness, I have made many postings giving Sprint credit where they deserve it. You see, I don't hate Sprint, I just can't abide Sprint fans who blame Nextel for everything bad that ever happened to Sprint, and those that fail to give credit to Nextel where it is due.
