Any one has any news, rumour on when this is going to be carried by ATT? Also, does anyone have any guide as to all this lockied and unlocked phones thing? I travel to Asia quite a bit and I can't afford paying $5/minute when someone in an Asian country call me from just 1 mile away. Thanks, The Boots

the only way for att or cingular to carry this phone would be if SE made one that worked for both GSM 850 and 1900 Mhz. T-mobile could probably carry the phone as is, but that's up to them.

As far as I know, all the the carriers in north america have their phones "sim-locked" by the manufacturers. This means that you can only use a cingular sim card in a phone that was made for cingular, same thing with att and tmobile. for example, trying to put a tmobile sim card in a phone that was made for cingular and is "sim-locked" will generate errors and the phone will not work. I have heard that it is possible to take the "sim-lock" off of phones, but I dont know how it is done. If you had a phone that was "unlocked" you could purchase a pre-pai...

Everything I have read about the Z600 is very positive. I have just ordered one from Adam at He is a very reputable individual that delivers as promised and supports his clients. I should have it on Tuesday.

I am a T-Mo client and have been for over 2 years. The deal with UNLOCKED phones is quite simple. Most carriers LOCK their phones so that only their own SIM cards work in the units. That way they can earn revenue off new phone equipment sales and keep you locked into only a select set of phones. If you are in the US, there are several decent companies that specialize in selling unlocked phones and/or providing unlocking services for existing phones. Adam is one of the best I have dealt with, and NO I am in...

That's good to hear. I want a Z600 but I can't justify spending over $300 for one. If they were available in the US they would be offered with plans, intant rebates, etc for much less. I was looking at the British carriers and some even offered it for free with a plan. Here in the US, I guess it just depends on how bad you want one.

I don't understand why so many phones are not sold in the US.

I'll look into the unlocked phone prices though.

In response to your previous post benhur, you can actually buy the Z600 for a lot less than $300 with a new contract. offers the Z600 with either T-Mobile or Cingular...and depending on how long your contract is for (1 or 2 yrs) is how much you can save instantly on the phone. Hope this helps...

Thanks! I checked it out. I'd have to go with T-Mobile for a year but then the phone is only $249 (still a little high for me) It mentions "as low as $164.99" but I didn't see that price mentioned in any of the plans. I'll have to give them a call. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

It should work with t-zones right?
