It was my understanding that Android 4.0 will not support any physical keyboards.

Why not? I'm typing this on the keyboard dock of my Asus Transformer Prime running Android 4.0.3.

it's a keyboard dock my friend...so it's different..but i still believe ics will support physical keyboards on the actual device in the future.

The problem with keyboards is it makes the phone allot thicker.

But it also makes them a lot more usable lol- I have yet to find a softkeyboard that works well for a heavy texter and we're finding more and more of our customers and suppliers want to do text messaging esp w/the advent of Long Codes. It's pretty unbelievable that no one is really making any new phones w/a physical kbd- esp for Android. Once RIM is gone- there's going to be a big hole here.
