Check the News tab above. There is GSM capability, and Verizon confirmed that they plan to enable it at a later date. Phone Scoop broke that news. 
With that said, in general, all LTE phones have a SIM slot. So when it comes to LTE phones, a SIM doesn't necessarily mean anything to do with GSM.
