Samsung 670 vs. LG vx6100

I currently own the Samsung a670 and stumbled across the LG vx6100 on the Verizon web site. I'm still within my 15 days for trade-in. I have never owned an LG before. I have owned Samsungs in the past and Samsung's upper end just simply reeks quality. The a670 is built like a tank, it just feels good. Sound quality is just okay; I have trouble hearing the person I'm talking to sometimes, and the headphone jack cover is incredibly difficult to open on my phone for some reason and that's frustrating. The a670 also lacks a speakerphone. Other than that, this phone is awesome, probably the best I've owned so far. I am very seriously considering a change to the LG vx6100 though, because speakerphone would be nice to have again and I've heard alot...

I think the main difference here will be that the 6100 has analog capability as well as a speakerphone.

I know the differences between the two phones. I am more concerned about the build quality of LG compared to Samsung. Some of the LG's look and feel kind of flimsy and cheap compared to the higher end Samsungs. Just wondered if that might be the case here.

I would keep the 670. I've used an LG phone before. LG's are good phones, Samsungs are great phones. It's like having a Hyuandai vs. a Jag.

True, the Samsung does not have a speakerphone, but overall it's better than LG.

Samsung DOES feel rock solid and not flimsy like LGs and others. Reception on both are good with slight edge going to Samsung.

Only thing I don't like about my 670 (and others I've had in the past) is after extensive use, the handset gets hot. Can't figure it out. That happened to me when I was using the 650 also.

Hope this helps

I agree. I finally had a chance to look at the LG vx6100 at Verizon when it came in last week and the quality just doesn't match Samsung. I know there are alot of LG fans out there and I'll probably get some negative replies, but this particular LG feels cheap. They're also trying to mirror Samsung's style but they're not even close there either. I think the LG 4400 was probably their best phone ever and perhaps they should just stick with non-camera phones. LG's interface is great, but their quality is not.

I believe the reason the phone gets hotter than other phones (like Motorola or Nokia) you have direct contact with the battery on the back of the phone, while Moto and Nokia encase their batteries so you aren't touching the battery as with the a670...make sense?
