Leaving Sprint early for the Note

I am leaving Sprint early in order to get this phone when it's released. My contract end date is March 26, so pretty close. Any tips on avoiding penalties?

You can try telling them you are mentally handicapped and don't understand what an early termination fee. Otherwise you can wait a little less than a month to buy a different phone.

If you're content with Sprint, I don't understand leaving them for a phone, OK its nice. But don't you think Sprint and other carriers are going to come out with something similar? BTW, I am an AT&T customer.

I am content with Sprint, but am not content with my phone. I MUST have the Samsung Note. I'm pretty sure horrible things will happen to me if I don't get one. Anything about Sprint getting the Note is rumour at this point. Sprint will be in a transition period with their 4G service and there is no telling what will happen. Not sure I want to ride the transition with them, though I need to research that more to know how that will affect customers.

Fair enough Mad, and if you get a corporate discount of some sort, prices tend to moderate with AT&T. I get one, so when people say this is cheaper or that, it doesn't really make a difference. In the end, within a few bux, they all tend to come out about the same in monthly cost. (for me). Where I live Ocean County, NJ, Nobody has LTE or WiMAX service, and I don't see it coming down to me in the next year or so. I do get a decent hspa+ data service, so AT&T works for me. If in a year or so, things change, so will I. Right now, I use an unbranded, unlocked SGSII I bought this past July and it works fine. Yes, I would like a Note, just can't seeing buying a SuperSized version of the SGSII right now. I would prefer to wait for quad c...

My current phone (Evo 4G) has only 512meg of internal memory and is always crashing with low memory errors (deleted lots of apps and moved others to SD card), so I really need a new phone. Hard to believe after all these years since MSDOS I'm still dealing with system memory vs extended memory!

Much more than supersized when compared to the Evo. If I had the SII I'd likely wait as well.

I was in the AT&T store over lunch today and the salesperson also mentioned the corporate discount. Turns out I qualify! That right there negates the price increase and I actually pay less. I've decided I'm going to wait out my current contract and upgrade on April 2. Maybe I'll get lucky and Ice Cream Sandwich will be out for it by then.

On second thought, I may as well wait for Ice Cream Sandwich. It can't be long now. So April 2 or ICS, whichever is later.

I also had an EVO 4G with Sprint. Got tired of paying for "4G service" w/o 4G coverage in my area (Red Bank, NJ). The WiMAX will not go any place, Sprint is also moving to LTE 4G, but it will take years for them to build the network out. Considering their WiMAX build outspeed, do not hold your breath for LTE build build out.

I was also thinkung about switching to AT@T because of the Note, but while trying to upgrade my wife's iPhone to Note, they were so deceptive about upgrading and tried to make her pay extra 100 dollars (preorder time, Feb. 5th) for keeping her unlimited data service. I canceled my wife's preorder, and, for me, I went to Verizion this past weekend.

I got one of the best 3 Verizon phones, HTC Rezound, for 80.00 fro...

Yes, Verizom has LTE in Red Bank, and the 4G signal in my house is in low -90dBm - 3 bars. It could be that the htc rezound has a great receiver. While with Sprint I had no signal in my lab at work. With Rezound I do. Have not traveled South on the Parkway since I got the new phone and can't tell you how far it goes. But, surely VZ will be down sooner then the others.

Were you applying logic to a situation that involves hot new technology? 😁

I never got into drugs. This is my "crack". I MUST have the Samsung Note, and I want it NOW!

That said, switching to AT&T is not looking so good. I lose unlimited data (not a big deal since I am usually under 3GB/month), unlimited texting (unless I want to pay an extra $20/month, which I don't!), and free Telenav (which is still superior to Google Nav and I use it all the time).

In the end, I probably will wait.
