At&t deceptive pricing – unlimited extra $100 for the phone

Preordered mine, but the price on the web site said 399 - 100 instant rebate. My shopping cart ended up not getting the $100 instant rebate. Called AT&T to see if that was a mistake on the web, and of course they said, since you opted to "KEEP UNLIMITED DATA, you are not eligible for $100 rebate."

Needles to say, I talked to the manager, tried to persuade them about my (wife's) low data usage, keeping 10+ years customers happy. Nothing worked. I canceled the order and will move on to Verizon as soon as I figure what phone to get there. The Note (version of) is coming to them as well. At least the VZ has LTE network too.

And I was wondering IF AT&T was going to allow one to keep the unlimited data plans with this phone period. At $499 and no rebate, instant or otherwise, I think I would just spend a bit more and get the international one. No contract, exynos cpu and unlocked.

I too was contemplating the international one but was wondering if the chipset is going to cause significant issues with our networks here.

I use an international sgsII the i9100 and it works flawless. See no reason why it shouldn't be the same for the Note. Yes it autosets an apn, and I modified it, by going into an AT&T store and typing in the exact APN that was on the AT&T SGSII.

They are forcing people with unlimited data to limited by increasing price of the phone. That is not fair. They will lose this customer because of it. What part of grandfathering of plans they do not understand?

They shouldn't be doing this, I agree. But to be honest, I try to stay contract free. So, wouldn't be worrying about a rebate in any case.

Sorry, but that does not make sense.

You do NOT get anything off on your monthly charge because you are "off contract."

If I am paying a contract price anyway, then I want them to at least foot the part of the phone price -- in this case the phone costs over $700 and they would pitch in about 3-400 dollars over the 2-year contract. Perhaps less, since they are bying phones in bulk.

Do you work for AT&T and are trying to confuse the readers with nonsense suggestions?

No, I don't work for AT&T, and I think you misread me. And do think you're right. I just usually get my phones from outside of AT&T's stable, thats all.

I suggest that you go into a store instead of the website. Prices vary from website to store. It's only online that there is a rebate, in stores the Note is just $299.99. No matter what data package you go with. So before you switch to another carrier because you can't read fine print, get your info straight.

Just saying.

I am starting to get tired of the paid at&t responders on these forums. If not paid then why be so argumentative and why try to confuse the issue?

My order was "Advanced" and BEFORE the device was available after stores. At&t tried to pull a fast one and get rid of customer's unlimited data plan, or charge extra 100 for the device. That sleazy attempt did not work! I canceled the order and may move to different operator.

Btw, Note is now available at Amazon for 250 dollars.

If not working for the att then you can't read and comprehend what people write
