Verzion iPhone 4S unlocking???
I have an old motorola z6c phone which is a CDMA/GSM world phone on verizon. I have called verzion and they gave me an "unlock" code which I could enter when I'm overseas and put it into GSM mode. After doing that I could buy a pre-paid sim and use it in the phone. Does anyone know if that will be possible with the iphone 4S on verizon?

Which it has so far with the iPhones the carriers will not have an unlock code and apple does not provide them
...
although that doesn't mean it can't be done. You could always jail break it

I wonder about the unlocked one's Apple is going to start selling in November? I know they're unlocked on the gsm side? But, what about the cdma carriers?

I don't know if that code that you already have will work! Apple does advertise this as a world phone! So they must have something that you can do to take it overseas!
...
It's a "world phone" IF you have international roaming enabled through your provider. For a GSM unlock, you will have to wait for the Dev Team to find an exploit.
...
See the front page of Phonescoop....VZW will unlock GSM after 60 days...their standard policy for World phones.

Verizon might unlock the GSM side of the phone, but the SIM the phone uses is a micro-SIM. Do overseas carriers sell micro-SIMs, or will they be difficult to find?
...
You can cut a fullsize SIM card down to the microSIM size and it will still work... just cut it down to the actual footprint of the electronic area.

I walked into the Verzion Wireless store this weekend to confirm with 2 reps. This is what Verizon will do. If you have the iPhone 4S for more than 60 days, they WILL give you an unlock code (when you call customer service/tech support) to unlock the GSM side of the phone. So when you go overseas... you can buy a prepaid SIM card and insert it in for use. Woohoo!
Also since it uses the microSIM, all you need to do is cut the actually full size SIM card down to the microSIM size (part with the actual electronics) and it should work....
