Calendar question

Currently using a blackberry. Most important function for me is the calendar. I like the fact that I can set an event reminder a week in advance on my BB. When I have looked at the Iphone calendar app, it only allows a reminder up to 2 days in advance. Does anyone know if this can be altered?
