BlackBerry Torch 9850

Well my move from the Storm 2 to an iPhone 4s is not without it's problems. I may be back, but I am still on the fence about it.

Pros:
Siri is cool and almost a smart@ss at times. Best voice recognition system out there but thats not saying much because I never thought much of these systems
-no crashes, some momentary freezes, seamless and fluid device
-fun device for the masses that can make everyday life easier and ...yea...that word again...fun

cons:
-email...email...email
Anyone know you can't have iPhone and a desktop email clients running POP3 at the same time without issues? If both are set to check every few minutes or so, one of them will lock you out and not retrieve email. Outlook on my desktop is full of error codes. Apples own workaround you may ask?...change to IMAP, check email manually (yea right ) or less frequently. It seems iPhones are prone to this Blackberries running their own separate system provided it is running is not prone to this issue

-Lack of sound profiles. I got very used to putting my crackberry into its cradle every night already pre-programmed to turn alerts and email off and keep the phone on. Lots of workarounds on IOS5 for this, but its a fair amount of work manipulating the settings every night. Has to have the phone jailbroken to get a proper app on it for this. Even jail breaking can't be done yet with the 4s
-No friggen multi-colored LED light. IOS5 can flash the flash LED literally though. Still not the same

-Lack of customization of the home screen. It's actually impossible to customize or manipulate anything to your liking. No app moving or hiding that I know of. Android and RIM users have it good here


I guess my point here is that maybe the whole world hates RIM with twiddle dum and twiddle dee at the helm right now or maybe it's the media tying to crumble the "Rimpire"...who knows RIM has some serious advantages to some people. With all the shrinking RIM is doing to me it's really going back to it's roots as a business device. The way Blackberries get things done is more no-nonsense and deliberate.

Advantages are eroding for RIM but they are not gone.
1.5 weeks to decide if I keep this iphone4s, go back to my old one as the wisest of the wise...stormsurvivor has done or try a plastic 9850 for a year or so and upgrade easy when QNX comes out...
