i am curious. i own the kyocera 7135 palm phone. it's gotten better even though it originally sucked and had major technical problems. i like it now that i've seen the treo 600. the main drawback i see with the treo 600 is that YOU CAN'T WRITE IN IT!!?? Why would anyone buy it!? I mean seriously, the keyboard might be cool an all, but how could anyone give up the ability to write information in their palm/phone!? I am curiuos as to what you all think. Because my friend and I see this as a major problem. I even used to use my finger nails to write, but with a treo 600, you cant even do that!!!! WOW!

THOUGHTS AND EXPERIENCES WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I love the TREO's keyboard. I used to have a Tungsten C, and virtually never used the graffiti on that, so the TREO keyboard isn't a problem to me. It's a bit smaller than the Tungsten, but works really well.

But, the qwerty keyboard is much more effective than the Kyocera's graffiti. Moreover, it is a faster way to text or email. Why would you not want it? I have had the Kyocera, and I hated it. Plus, I used the graffiti board. I guess it comes down to preference. Overall, by a long shot, the Treo 600 is a better phone.

I always hated the graffiti on my Tungsten T3 and other Palms I have owned. I agree...the QWERTY keyboard is better and faster...

There is a 3rd party application you can use with the Treo taht will enable grafitti. It uses the screen as your writing area, albeit you need to be mindful of the letter vs numeral "side" of the screen. I think it's called Grafitti Anywhere and I believe it's a free app. There is another one, but I can't recall what it is called.

I also like being able to write into my palm. I had a Treo briefly, and used Grafitti Anywhere. it works, but it is not as elegant as having adedicated writing area. Also, to activate it, you need to hold down one of the 4 application buttons while writing. Simple to do, but still not as elegant.

i see. that sounds interesting regarding the software.

i still just thought most ppl like to write easily in general in their PDAs.

i mean most ppl own PDAs where they can WRITE! SO WHY BUY THE TREO IF YOU CAN'T WRITE?? i still don't get it.

stick with the 7135 until they release a phone with writing capabilities is my thought. comments??

You can add graffiti to the treo 600. There is free software you can download.

the 7135 is a great phone - chews batteries a little - but clear and versatile.

The Treo to wait for will be the next release "650" or whatever - most interesting is rumor of hot-swap battery as well as RAM backup of personal data - even if you loose all power - your only dead till the next juicing.

There's a great replacement for Graffiti 1/2 by Teal that works for Treo and Tung. C etc. 5.x Palm OS... see http://www.tealpoint.com/softscrp.htm
