Verizon+Treo 600/610
rvsJun 28, 2004, 1:07 PM
After many calls to tech support, sales, local offices - all I've heard it's going to happen - but no committment re: timing.
It's a great phone and Verizon is just too slow to market. Friends have been using it for over 6 months at Sprint.
If anyone can penetrate the big V "cone of silence" let us know.

ERGH - it is frustrating. I just talked to a VZW Corporate Rep that I trust and he says it just got approved last week and once inventory builds up in the system then it will be released for sale - none of this teared "B2B" first stuff like has been rumored. I was hoping it really would be available to business customers today, but no dice. So much for the new toy for the long weekend!

I spoke to both a Verizon sales Rep/Verizon technician in NYC today who both confirmed that the phones were expected to be available today for Business Customers. The technician suspects that the release is delayed pending the completion of proper training by the appropriate customer service reps.

PalmOne is taking phone pre-orders for the Verizon version of the Treo 600. I just called the number on the palmone web site. They reps was told to expect them in 3 to 5 weeks. and the phones will retail for $699 since they don't have a contract with VZW directly. Whew!!!! $699!!!??

My rep said around $300 ???

I don't know who you talked to but, no one I talked to today at Palmone said anything about a Verizon version of the 600. In fact, the rep denied that any such thing exists. That said, you can buy an "unlocked" CDMA version of the 600 for $699 and this might just work on Verizon's network. I would rather wait and see if Verizon offers the phone and hopefully pay much less (maybe 499?)
BTW the reason for the 3-5 week wait has something to do with a warehousing change according to the rep I talked to today.
