Treo connection to the web

Hi Everyone,

In a different forum, someone suggested that the Treo is designed to maintain a constant web connection (see below). I don't need a constant link to email. It would be nice to have a PDA/cell phone combo anyway.

My understanding is that I can change the Treo's settings to only go on the web when I want it to. Then I could just use my plan minutes to access the web instead of paying for a data package. Am I right about this?

Thanks!

Tom

I'd go for the camera phone rather than wait for the TREO; the treo is designed to maintain a constant connection while waiting for incoming emils etc; Thus you must add a data package of 29.99 for 5mb or 49.99 for unlimited use. Otherwise

So if i turn the wireless mode off, i wont be charged while i make calls with it, correct. I will just be charged when i turn it back on and use the wireless. Also do you know the know thing verizon is gonna have on the 1st of feb for 15 bucks can have unlimited internet usage and not use minutes.
Will this comply with the treo also or not
thanks

If you turn the Wireless mode OFF, you won't be able to make or recive any calls or data. But when you turn it back on, you'll notice that it will no longer be connected to the Internet. (the icon is two opposite pointing green arrows just above the signal strength indicator.

As far as the second part. The answer is unfortunately no. The $15 monthly fee (first two months free if before 05/05) is for VCAST only and allows access to the GIN and the Mobile Web 2.0 - and is unlimited for those items only(unlimited all data is still $44.99/month). To have VCAST, the phone must be EVDO enabled. There are 3 phones from VzW, but the Treo is not one of them.

Hope this info helps.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news... ☹️
