Re: Disable Missed Text Message Alert
Also, like you, I called both SPRINT and SAMSUNG technical support. I talked with very nice people, but because this alleged feature is not even described in the manual for this phone, they did not know what I was talking about or how to help me turn it off.
The solution I found is an imperfect one but it would satisfy your desire to leave your phone on during business meetings. Do this:
1) use the volume control button on the left side of the case to tun the volume all the way down until it displays "ringer off + vibe"
2) while you are executing step one, make sure the little text box in the bottom left of the screen reads "vibe off". I think the factory default is "vibe on", so if yours says that, click on it so that it changes to "vibe off". Ironically the "off" display means the vubrator function is active for this phone.
That will kill both the ring tone and the obnoxious missed call/missed message beep, but if your phone is in your pocket, you will feel it vibrate when a text or call is received. Not a perfect solution by any means but at least something!
I hope SAMSUNG eventually recognizes this design flaw and corrects it with available firmware or something to fix these phones.
best, Rick
