Data Connectivity Issues?
I got the phone about 1pm and thankfully decided to eat lunch in the same plaza, as I realized the data was not connecting, despite showing 4/5 bars and "4G LTE" I went back to the store and explained the issue. They played with the phone and admitted it was not working right. They swapped the SIM, still nothing. They swapped the phone, now spotty at best but still freezing, so they tried yet another SIM. While this is going on, a guy comes in to exchange his SGII for the Skyrocket and his initial use is showing the same issues.
I asked for a refund, and they are going to give it to me, but they asked me to keep it a few days and they'd waive any re-stocking fee so I could try it in a real world setting and see if the newly launched LTE network just had day 1 bugs. (Note: it is clearly NOT defaulting to the HSPA+ network as it is not working at all in areas where my Nexus One or Atrix 1 worked great).
Tried it at work this morning (Silver Spring MD, just a few miles outside the DC line): 22 down/13 up..great, except no web sites open, maps cannot use data for rough fix, and facebook ap does not open either. Tested speed test again: 15/15. Downloaded Miren Browser off a recommendation (so market working and downloaded in a second): worked better with websites but maps still won't lock, Facebook app won't work, and even browser(s) are spotty- may load 1 site in a split second and any links off of it (like CNN and any news story on it) but then won't go to Yahoo or ESPN.
So- anyone else have a fancy paperweight?
