Turning off 4G?

Has anyone found a way to disable 4g from being on constantly and sucking the life out of the battery? Are there any decent apps out there that will do the trick?

LTE is automatically off if you're not in an LTE area, there's no real way to turn the HSPA+ off though since it's on the same antenna as 3G. It's a pity you can't, too. I'd like greater control over which one is active, switching to 2G when the phone isn't doing much could save a lot of battery.
