Kyocera SE47 / SE44 / V5 (Slider)

i just bought a kyocera se47 for verizon wireless and have already had a problem with it . upon turning the phone on there is a thin purple vertical line that runs right through the screen. also the signal strength flucuates all over the place, and the reception for this phone is Very Poor.
has anyone else had similiar experiences with this phone? if so did you try to find out with the problems might be? and did you get any definitive answers?
