Fragmentation

The only thing this is causing is further fragmentation of the Android platform. Do you think Google will spend any time making their new versions compatible with this? Don't expect any new versions....

Yes,

Because More phones will support dual screen and so will more versions of Android OS. Sorry but you are wrong on this one.

By "more", I'm assuming you mean more than one? I tend to think smylax is right, but we'll see if/when this gets upgraded to 2.3.

Samsung started with that ticker tape on the bottom of the phone, I think you'll be seeing more of these types of phones. It's hard to know if this is just another gimmick to sell something "new" or really what consumers want.

The ticker tape is miles different from a second full sized touch screen. It screams gimmick to me and I really doubt it will become the norm.

Android isn't going to update for this phone specifically. Consumer reports are bound to say, "DO NOT BUY!" due to the lack of common sense put into the phone. Dual screens is a novel idea, but it's not really about being gimmicky vs being reasonable in price, style, and battery life. So far this phone is ugly, probably pricey, and the battery life is bound to suffer.

Some gimicks work ... touch screen was considered a gimmick when it started making appearances in phones ... now it's the norm. Gimmicks are needed for ideas. Some work, some do...
