Removing "Verizon Wireless" banner on screen

The "Verizon Wireless" banner on the screen clutters up a neat wallpaper I have. Any idea how to remove it? No offense to Verizon, but their logo is on the phone's front, back, and inside; we can both live without on the screen. Thanks for any help.

I believe the only way to not have the Verizon Banner on the screen is to get the phone from a Non-Corporate owned store. Other than that, there is no option that I am aware of to get rid of it.

There is a way to remove the banner. Basically, you just have to edit the phones file system with a HEX editor. Website below has the instructions.

Noticed that the instructions for banner removal are for the 4400; do you know if this is the same protocol for the 4600 I have?
Thanks.
