VX4600 for new lines only?

While searching around for a phone to upgrade to, I got excited when I found the VX4600. Fit my needs to a T. But when I went through the "Upgrade your phone" links on the verizon website, that phone wasn't in the list of phones. Yet, when I looked at the list of phones as if I were a new subscriber, there it was, plain as day.

After many phone calls, an email, and a lot of head scratching, I think I've gotten to the bottom of it.

BE WARNED! The VX4600 is available for new lines of service only! Not an option if you are a current subscriber and are trying to upgrade.

Apparently, LG had VZW make an agreement that they would only sell it to new subscribers. Why? Nobody at VZW seems to know.

If anybody knows a way around this...

Well I am trying to get it as an upgrade too. I had emailed VW last week and a woman emailed me back asking me if I wanted her to order it as an upgrade for me and if I wanted any acessories with it.. I replied yes and that was on friday.. I expect to hear back today to see if she is really getting it for me.. However, as you said none of the store emplyees or most of the *611 reps have a clue as to why.. Ill post again once i hear back.

Let me know if you're successful and, if so, who you contacted!!

If she dosnt reply back to you (coasterguy) all you have to do to GET AROUND IT IS. You have to sign up for new service. If they aprove you DONT sign up for 2 years contract. pay for the month bec. you get thirty days to try it then the second day just go and tell them you dont like the service already take it back but make sure that you pay FULL RETAIL and if they ask you for the phone say my dog ate it hahaha. same with the two year contract i pretty sure you get 30 days.

I purchased this phone and I am NOT a new subscriber. I did however receive pushback from every sales agent I came into contact with...It took 9 agents before the 10th sold it to me. My arguement is that it does NOT say on Verizon's website that this phone is for new customers only...I stuck to my guns and eventually got the phone. I had to be a little bit of a dick...but I have the phone now and it is awesome!!! Verizon has great service, but they (Verizon) suck...who else would have sh*tty store phones and the only cool phone that comes out in 3 years is for new customers only...???

actualy it does say on the website that it is for new lines only Lagwagon. go to this site here http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/splash/onl ineexclusive.jsp which is one click from the main site and then scroll all the way to the botom to where the small print is and you see this "2-year Customer Agreement required. Available with new activations only. Limited time offers. While supplies last. Not available in all markets. Advertised price may only be available online in certain markets." I know this because I work in the suport area that handles problems with the orders on the internet. I can tell you this though, there are tricks out there to getting the phone for existing customer, specialy if you push hard enough as Lagwagon show...

Well AS I stated earlier. I had trouble with the reps over the phone simply answering me if i could get this phone as my new every 2 upgrade. AFter 7 calls and different reps someone finally connected me with the head of internet sales at VRZ and he sent me out the phone today as my upgrade even though it is supposed to be for new customers only. I said he was sorry for the reps not knowing there stuff and that is why he fullfilled my order.. and it was free.. as my new every 2.. I should get it tomorrow or thursday he said. I will submit a review this weekend..

Sorry for the bad info, I must have missed the print that said this is for new customers only. I find that it is very strange Verizon finally got a cool phone and won't sell it to anyone. I don't understand this company and their phone selection/availability process. Anyway...I downloaded some Jimi Hendrix realtones from Xringer from Get It Now...they are the actual sond clips and they sound AWESOME on this phone! I have never had a phone other than a Motorola in the past 12 years, but I really do like this phone a lot!!! I have been receiving compliments on it daily!

Well, I don't know if I'm frustrated or relieved to find out that I'm not the only one who has this problem.

Would anyone who was successful in obtaining this phone be willing to privately send me the name or number for the person who was able to help them? I promise I would not pass on the source.

Thanks.

I am sorry to say that I just looked for the name and number of the guy who helped me but I cannot find it. As I think I already threw it out. All I can offer to do is to get on the phone with customer service and be persistant but not mean in any way. I told them the truth about someone emailing me and telling me I could have the phone and they never got back to me..(true story happened several times) then when i had someone on the line that seemed really nice and cheerfull I asked her to listen to my whole story b4 she stopped me and asked me anything. (as I could already tell her everything mentioned in my account) she listened and tranferred me to someone in internet sales.. who sent me the phone I got it within 18 hours of the phone c...
