This is exactly the same thing that happened to me. I picked up the phone, and noticed that it was warmer than usual especially since it hadn't been used (talked on etc.) in a while. I had to remove/replace the battery to get it to power on, and I also lost a bar in battery strength which should have lasted longer.
That was a little over a week ago, and I haven't experienced it since then. I hope this isn't a chronic problem..this is my only phone line, and I need it to be reliable.
