Phone randomly powering off

Has anyone else had problems with this phone shutting down at totally random times (sometimes during a call, other times just sitting on a desk)? This has been quite frustrating and VZW hasn't been too forthcoming in helping me find a solution.

Thanks

My wife and I both have this phone and have experienced the same problem. While it has not happened too frequently, there definitely appears to be a hardware problem with this phone.

I have had this exact same problem. Allthough I have found out the phone is not actualy shutting down but crashing. It requires a battery reset to restart the phone.

VZW has been tring to help but refuse to admit to any problem with this phone saying I must have a defective phone. Well I have had 3 defective VX4600 phones now. I called LG directly who refused to admit any problems

I have the exact problem too! The phone automatically turns off and you have to reset the battery to turn it on again. The battery is warm and loses one bar of power every time this happens.
Anyone has any idea about this?

This is exactly the same thing that happened to me. I picked up the phone, and noticed that it was warmer than usual especially since it hadn't been used (talked on etc.) in a while. I had to remove/replace the battery to get it to power on, and I also lost a bar in battery strength which should have lasted longer.

That was a little over a week ago, and I haven't experienced it since then. I hope this isn't a chronic problem..this is my only phone line, and I need it to be reliable. ☚ī¸

Ok. I have the same problem....

I have an LG 4600 cell phone. I've only had the phone for a few months and have had problems with it ever since I got it. The phone shuts down frequently. It doesn't seem to matter if the phone has a full charge or not. As a matter of fact, sometimes it shuts itself off while it's on the charger. To restart the phone, I have to take the battery out and put it back it. Simply hitting the power button will not power it back up. Within a week of getting the phone, this problem surfaced. My local Verizon dealer ordered a replacement LG 4600 for me, but the same problems have continued with this replacement. And I'm under a 2-year agreement with Verizon to keep this phone.

Today, I phoned L...

Its like I said in my initial email, VZW hasn't been helpful in getting me a working replacement. If everyone is having the same problem with this phone, why would I want to replace it with an identical model? I guess I'll be going back to Sprint or maybe give Cingular a try when my contract expires in March. Thank god I refused to sign a two year contract!

I've not yet had this error occur to me. It used to be a problem when I had the 4400, which I replaced through Lockline. The first time this one does that, you better believe I'm replacing it through lockine again (Free replacements within 6 months of first one...so far, it's two phones for 50 bucks, maybe be up to three soon)

I'm just glad someone posted this problem so I can keep an eye out for it.

This thread below was from a while ago but seems to be similar with a few comments about the "power save" feature possibly leading to this issue:

I've had 2 models of the 4600 now for about 8 months and have never experienced this problem. We have also not used the "power save" mode either.
I have no idea if it has anything to do with it or not, but who knows. Is anyone using this feature who is having this problem?

RE: Motown

I saw the same thread after I experienced this problem and changed the power save setting at that time. So, we'll see if that fixes the problem (fingers crossed). If I continue to experience this problem, I'll post back here.

I did read a post in another forum that stated they 'turned off' the power save setting and it still had problems.

Some people seem to have a chronic problem with this, some people only exprience it once in a while, while others haven't had any problems. It seems like in your case, you should have experienced something by now, so it would appear you are clear of these types of problems.

I really like this phone, so I hope the power save setting does the trick this time 🙂

I wish that was the case, but I've always had the power save function turned off. So I guess its back to the drawing board.
