If you have an earpiece (w/ microphone) plugged in, you can access driving mode and use the phone with the clamshell closed by clicking the driving mode button on the side of the phone. After all, driving mode should be used "hands free" shouldn't it? This makes sense to me. I don't know how it behaves if you don't have a microphone on your earpiece. I would guess not very well.

If the earpiece is not plugged in, the driving mode button functions as a toggle switch.

I was hoping you could access voice commands without touching the phone (i.e. by clicking the earpiece button), I guess LG will have to add this "feature" next round. You can only get re-dial with the earpiece button, which does nothing for me.

Apparently, it doesn't matter whether or not driving mode is activated when using the earpiece. I think this makes sense because having the earpiece plugged in should override some things (like speakerphone). If you open the phone and activate speakerphone when using the earpiece, the screen says speakerphone is on, but it doesn't work which verifies the previous statement. Maybe a little hoki.

If your earpiece has a button, it functions as a re-dial button when not on a call and a hang-up button when on a call.

Hope this helps.
