I've had the IP4 on the early delivery, previously had a BB Storm2.

My battery life is very poor, not lasting a day, where the Storm typically lasted. Also, can not change battery like the BB.

i've shut wifi, dimmed display, no gps..

what's been your experiences?

any suggestions?

thanks

I had the HTC Droid Incredible in-between an AT&T iPhone and my Verizon iPhone and I can say the battery life on the iPhone is heaven in comparison.

With the AT&T iPhone I would turn off 3G when I needed extra juice. I noticed there is a similar option on this phone.
Settings>General>Network. I'm not sure if it will help on the Verizon phone cause I haven't needed to try it.

Also there are some cases available that work like battery back ups.

What is it you do on a daily basis??? My ATT iPhone is currently at 79% and my VZW iPhone is at 75%.

Some texting, emails, several calls on each....its 4:30PM here (its 5 o'clock somewhere).

You can't change your battery!?!?!?

OK, that was sarcasm, a bit...because, well....that whole thing has been asked-and-answered for years.

Part of me thinks this is troll material simply because to complain/comment about the battery on an iPhone, at this stage...is a little weak.

I too had the Storm2 (among others), and BOTH of my iPhones have had battery life AT LEAST consistent (or better) than most other phones I've had.

Coming from a BB to an iPhone...do you maybe think that you "fiddle" with it more than you did the trusty old BB....

I consistently average 60+ mins/day of phone time - all using Bluetooth, 45-60 emails/day, 15+ text messages, and leave my WiFi turned on. I am usually charging my iPhone late afternoon, but by that point it's been 9 hrs or so since I took it off the charger at home. I think this is excellent for a true smartphone. My last phone was a Pre Plus, and I could watch the battery level drop on that thing.

battery life is still poor.

down about 25% this morning with 20 mins of talk time, 10 emails and minimum surfing

i've had a few smartphones before, never had a problem lasting a day. the iphone doesnt quite make it thru a day. i bought the igo charger just to carry around.

how do you best calibrate the battery??

runit down completely untill it shutts off, and then fully charge it, runit down again untill it dies then fully charge it.

need to run it all the way down at least once a month. to keep it calibrated, other wise it thinks that when it sees 25% voltage that its almost dead.

I hate to be disagreeable, but that is not true. Modern day lithium ion batteries don't need to be "calibrated", "exercised", or "run in". The are controlled within the phone by a battery management circuit that keeps track of the status and health of the battery.
I have been making cellular phone batteries for over twenty years, and the batteries of today are really simple to take care of-just use them until they wear out!
If you are experiencing abnormal battery drain it is either an app that is sucking the life out of it, or it's defective.

The battery life on mine is excellent. I have rearely gone below 60% for a normal days use (a few phone calls, lots of text and email, and a couple of hours of internet usage).

I also leave my GPS on but turn off my wi-fi when I am at work. I work ten hour days so I am off the charger for about tweleve hours total.

I am not sure why my experience is different.

I live in a strong cell area (4 bars). Today is Sunday, so only 3-4 emails.

The phone has been on for only 4 hours, 47 mins of talk time

Down to 70% battery..

So, is this typical???????

Are you using the automatic screen brightness setting? if not, do you have the brightness cranked up all the way?

that sounds about right really. but a solid phone call kills most phones pretty quick, like using internet.

also check screen brightness, and calibrate it.

Are you using push by any chance?

Many applications like Mail, Facebook and others come by default with push notifications on. This had a pretty large effect on my battery for the first fews days, until I read to turn push off in each app.

My battery easily lasts more than a day now.

The phone is rated for 7 hours of talk time. You talk for almost 5 hours and are concerned the battery is down to 70%? I'd say your phone is working way above the specs.

Could be worse- I had an Incredible, and got about 3 hours of use before recharge. Changed to the iPhone and it's like the heavens opened and the sun started shining again.
