Thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless through our website. My name is Jason and I understand that you would like to know if the iPhone 4 will have insurance like our current devices, or does insurance have to be purchased through Apple. Insurance is a great way for our customers to protect their equipment from unexpected accidents. I will be happy to assist you with your insurance concerns.



Ms. Little, we do offer insurance on the iPhone devices through Asurion just like our other devices. We offer the following insurance options for our iPhone customers:



Wireless Phone Protection (WPP) covers lost, stolen, accidental physical or liquid damage or other events not covered by the manufacturer's warranty, and there is a monthly access of $9.18.



Total Equipment Coverage (TEC) covers lost, stolen, accidental physical or liquid damage or other events not covered by the manufacturer's warranty, and mechanical / electrical malfunctions after the manufacturer's 12 month warranty expires, and there is a monthly access of $10.99.



In a situation that you have to file an insurance claim, you would have to contact Asurion and they would be able to assist you with processing the insurance claim. When an insurance claim is processed, Asurion does charge a deductible.



In addition to insurance through Asurion, Apple provides the Apple Protection Plan. The AppleCare Protection Plan provides advance troubleshooting and assistance with iPhone 4 features such as iTunes billing, MobileMe setup and use, and other potential App difficulties. The AppleCare Protection Plan is available via Verizon Wireless Retail locations, Customer Service, Telesales, vzw.com (excluding Florida addresses), or directly from Apple by dialing 800-APL-CARE (800-275-2273) or going to an Apple store!



Every iPhone 4 includes Apple's complimentary telephone technical support for 90 days after the purchase date and a one year limited warranty. Once the 90 days of complimentary telephone support has expired, calls to Apple technical support are $29 per incident. With the AppleCare Protection Plan, after initial registration (instructions provided in-box), complimentary technical telephone support and the limited warranty is extended to two years from the purchase date.



Note: The AppleCare Protection Plan must be purchased within the first two years of iPhone 4 ownership. The AppleCare Protection Plan starts from the purchase date, not the purchase date of AppleCare Protection.



AppleCare Protection Plan details are the following:



The AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone 4 is $69.97 for up to two years.



AppleCare Protection Plan provides:



A. Technical Support:

1. Direct access to Apple experts

2. Mail-in service (Apple provides prepaid shipping box)

3. Carry-in service (to an Apple Retail Store or other Apple authorized iPad / iPhone 4 Service Provider)

4. Use with MAC or PC



B. Hardware Coverage:

1. The iPhone 4

2. Battery*

3. Included USB cable and power adapter

* Coverage available for battery depletion of 50 percent or more from the original specification.



C. Software Support:



1. Syncing with iTunes

2. Connecting to wireless networks

3. Sending and receiving email

4. Using iWork for iPad and other Apple-branded Apps



Verizon Wireless provides a one-year manufacturers’ warranty for all devices purchased directly from us.
