Side-by-side....I'm seeing VZW with the advantage..so far!
Carrying both ATT and VZW. In true geek style (plus..I'm a bit anal in my testing scenarios at work anyways), each phone has all the same apps, in all the same places.
I usually have them right beside each other wherever I am...currently, I am at my desk (where I spend a majority of my time.
ATT = 1 bar
VZW = 5 bars
I have several apps, that I frequent regularly, positioned close to each other on the main page.
I am seeing the VZW phone load and refresh each app faster....at times pushing 30 seconds faster. I know...thats not an eternity....but it really is, for ATT, when they have such inflated claims.
Facebook: VZW by half a second
Cnet: VZW by 2 seconds
Yellowpages search: VZW by 1.5 seconds
Yellowpages details: ATT by an instant
Yellowpages Google Map: Draw...and BOTH are nowhere near my current location.
TMZ: VZW by 15 seconds
CNN: VZW by 2 seconds
App Store: VZW by 1.5 seconds
(updated an app this AM...at the same time...VZW was done and I was using the app on the VZW phone before ATT was done. Mind you, I am unsure if simultaneous updates on the same account causes an issue.
USA Today: VZW by 1 second
EMAILS appear to be comeing to the ATT phone before the VZW phone...all same accounts loaded and configured. VZW iPhone is lagging in this area by up to a minute or two.
Craigsphone: VZW loaded by almost a second
Craigsphone search in FOR SALE/CARS and TRUCKS...VZW is noticably a bit faster on returns.
This is about as scientific as I can get by counting in my head.
If you are like me....tired of the ATT hype, and tired of those voice mails that follow a call you never received (sound familiar to anyone!????), or the data slowing to a crawl....
This might be the answer. I know that even though ATT has offered to allow me to buy some sort of MicroCell to improve my experience at my desk....and they have graciously pointed out what my ETF is going to be....and they have repeatedly begged to reset my network settings, swap/pull the SIM...ad nauseum.
My personal experience is that while I have seen some instances where ATT is a bit faster...overall, I'm done with ATT!
I won't miss talk-and-surf (I probably will....but not for long). Please note that all of the time tests (above), I have been doing over and over again....in my building at work, in my house, in the car at a light. Overall, what I have seen is that ATT just doesn't have all that much over VZW.
Please note as well that your mileage may vary. We all must search for, find and select the device/carrier combo that works best for us. That said....I am in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area of Virginia, and I'm a new VZW iPhone user.
