You may want to review the many comments on the impact of "grandfathered" data plans in this forum. I can't tell what the specifics are, but there may be a real advantage to not waiting as even VZ has been saying there WILL BE BIG CHANGES TO THEIR SERVICE PLANS starting in March. They have to do something to keep all the people who bought the iPhone 4 happy as it does not support 4G...

The people that are waiting for the iPhone 5 are going to feel pretty silly if it doesn't come out this summer. I thought about waiting but then decided that I wanted to get my 2 year clock going now so I will be able to next upgrade to the iPhone 6 or 7 next, if they happen. Besides, I don't think there will be any must have upgrades in the next generation, I can wait for the following generation and I will get that one sooner than those that wait now for something that might not happen. Also, I wanted to get locked into the current data plan before they change it, and they will soon.

What freightdog said!! Look at all those people who waited for a VZW iPhone all those times it was "supposed to come out next month"!! Plus (and this is why I did it this weekend)...grandfathered data plan. Just do it!! 🙂

Very good question, and one I had to ask myself about a week ago. I was a Sprint customer and my main reason for wanting to make the jump NOW was to get on the unlimited data and get grandfathered in before they take it away. The iPhone 4 is a great phone as is and as long as I can use data to my heart's content, I am a very happy camper.
Working at Best Buy Mobile I hear this question all the time and am asked about the iPhone 5 ALL THE TIME (as though they think we have a confidential conference call with Apple every single week). If I had to guess, I would say that the new iPhone in July might be a simple performance enhancement with a few minor tweaks here and there (what the 3GS was to the 3G- faster and video capture, a feature the ...
