I had the same concern myself. I think Google did an excellent job on the voice recognition and mapping/GPS functionality within Android. However, now that I have had my iphone for 2 days, I can tell you that its UI really blows Android away.
You can get a similar voice recognition experience on iOS by purchasing an app call Vlingo. It is free, although to compose texts and emails it'll set you back $9.99 (one-time charge). It's a pain to have to pay extra but I will tell you that so far, the iPhone IS "all that", and no, I am not a total Apple fanboy.
