No, you're far from the only one with this problem. This is one of the many fixes a Gingerbread (Android 2.3.X) update is supposed to address including the suck ass battery life. The fact that Verizon has now upgraded the 4G LTE phones that came out before AND after ours (the HTC Thunderbolt and the LG Revolution) with the newer Android operating system while leaving us with our thumbs up our rear ends is starting to really piss me off, BIG TIME!
They're continuing to swap out your phone will keep getting you nowhere. The only way around this problem for now is to either Restart the phone or (easier) hit the Menu button, then select the 1st choice on the list ... Wireless and Network, turn on Airplane Mode, wait a brief moment, then turn it off. You should be good to go again in under a minute.
