this is the only phone verizon offers with a dual core processor? And that should make the phone faster? More memory?

I settled for the fascinate because of the price. I don't want to make that mistake again.

I have 13,520 sku's. And 3x's as many batch codes. We warehouse food, dry, caned only. Nothing cold or frozen. The great thing about android is that if you don't like it, you can change it. long-press in a text input field, and it should pop up the "input method" dialog. Change it from "swype" to "android keyboard" and swype goes away. You can download other keyboards as well, you aren't stuck with just those.

You might be interested in the swiftkey keyboard, although you'll have to pay for it. It is a pretty cool predictive entry keyboard. It essentially remembers the things you say a lot, and as you start typing a word, it presents you with likely choices, you only have to type enough characters to get the word you want. After a couple of weeks, I could type text messages to my wife with just a couple of letters, and it would "suggest" the...

It sounds to me like you are expecting an awful lot from a phone. Sounds like you need something a lot heavier duty for work stuff (like a one of those symbian or HP handheld PCs. If your stuck on android, one of the small tablets like the Galaxy Tab, or a hacked NOOKcolor (though that would be wifi only and I don't think it has a camera; of course, you can tether to your phone for net access and use the phones' camera too).

Having separate devices for work/personal use also reduces the chances of accidentally sending an email to the wrong person, for example. Just a thought. 😎

You Are correct. I'm asking alot of a phone & I have been looking at the galaxy S/ipad. I asked in a different forum if either would be adding cd reader/player, rewritable to the devices. Make them more like a lap top but more portable. I just got a snarkey reply. I was carrying a lap top through the ware house, dropped one and broke it. Thier also bulky when you have a clip board, pens, phones and walkey talkey. The walkey talkie is used to talk to fork truck drivers. I want to burn pictures, inventory issues, things that needed adjusted on to a cd & hand it off to the foreman immediately. Frees up more time for me to get other thing's done. But oh well. Ill use the phone, transfer stuff to my pc and just be grateful for that short cut. Lo...

I get where you are coming from on that 🙂

I seriously doubt they will make a cd burner for the tablets, especially the small format (7") tablets like the Galaxy Tab. You might get lucky and someone will build a bluetooth connected version though. However, I did hear the other day about something they are calling a "camera connection kit" (maybe specifically for ipad?) which is an SD card reader. Copy the files to the SD card, then put the SD card into your PC, would be about as portable as a CD, and cheaper (you can reuse the SD card). I recall the Galaxy Tab has an MicroSD reader, so something external might not even be necessary.

The lap top that goes with the atrix phone, is that exclusive to the atrix? Will they have one for the bionic? I hope. It would be nice to throw away my cords! No more digging for them, leaving them at the office, then buying a second set.

Maybe that's something the tablets can add?

Pretty sure that's going to be exclusive to the Atrix, but I agree it would be sweet.

If it catches on, however, I'd expect to see more units like it; I would imagine that it is at least possible to do something along those lines with the Bionic, but whether or not they actually WILL do that is something I certainly don't know, but I rather doubt. I would think if they were planning something along those lines, Verizon would be all over advertising it. I think the big V is throwing their chips into the Zoom.

Look at the HP Elitebook Tablets. The are rugged and well built. A "drop" isn't going to break it, like most consumer based laptops and tablets. Plus it is only 12.1", just a little bigger than the Droid/Ipad tablets that are limited in functionality compared to a Tablet PC.
