Because Android OS has yet to natively support Adjustable Font Size like iPhone or my long in the tooth but still hanging on LG Dare. If you root the Android phone there is a Font Size app that can be installed, but who wants to go through that hassle?

Anyone in their mid-40's or older whose eyes are relying on reading glasses or a cheater magnifier for small print but otherwise has 20/20 vision will find Android OS unusable.

The other feature I use on my Dare all the time is Text Messaging Templates. I see the HTC ThunderBolt will have that, so if Google would care about the over 40+ year old consumer and put global Adjustable Font Size into their OS as Apple has done with iOS many of us would be faced with a choice between the new L...

What?!?!? I have 20/00 vison with glasses and I have no issues with Google's os I have a Fascinate and it works just great. You sound like a you have allowed "old age" to take over. Age is nothing but a number and the "LG Dare" as great as it was in it's time it's like driving a Pinto. If texting is all you worry about? You have a perfect phone for it. With a 4.3 inch screen I still just can't see how you are not grasping what this phone can do.
You are most likely a "Mac" person and like things set in a orderly state.
This is just my .02 cents. Good luck.

You support my point. You wear and rely on glasses, I only wear glasses while sitting at a computer, and my distance vision without glasses is 20/20. If I wore corrective lenses all the time like you do I would not have an issue with the font size on Android OS.

There are thousands of other people with the same complaint I have, and Google has not addressed it yet -> http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detai l?id=4547

By the way, I am not a "Mac" person, and would prefer an Android phone over iPhone if Google ever fixes this issue--until then, I have decided to use my LG Dare until Google fixes this or iPhone 5 comes out.

I have bad vision and I can read my phone perfectly...only this that is a little small is webpages...but pinch to zoom solves that issue perfectly...I have to agree with last poster before you, you're letting old age kick your arse.
