question re batterey life
I have traded in my first 4500 due to a slew of reasons, ( I believe it was used too), anyway they gave me back the same battery with the new phone.
The new phone appears to work fine, except the battery life. I only get 30-36 hours of standby time. During this time I made about 2-3 calls of less than a minute. I have a signal of about 3 bars in my home, and a better signal on the road.
Is this typical for this phone, or do I have a bad battery? I am used to getting 4 days standby with more usage and a worse signal on my old 120c

I think you should get more than that. Keep in mind that using the speaker a lot will use up more power. Try allowing the battery to discharge totally till the phone shuts itself off. Then a little while later, recharge it to full capacity. Do this discharge/charge routine a couple of times. If it doesn't help, I would insist on a new battery. Tell them the routine you followed above did not help.

I was told that "deep cycling" the lithium ion batteries was not needed. It works for NiCad batteries. I don't know, but I too feel that my vx4500 standard battery does not hold the charge it's quoted to. I asked Verizon folks about it and they said bring it in for a technician check. The phone has a one year warranty, so they should replace the battery if your still unsatisfied.

one thing that most people don't realize is that you should NOT leave your phone (battery) on the charger overnight! while most cell phone batteries can be charged at any time (except, of course, for ni-cad batteries that have to go dead first) they should be taken off the charger when the battery is done charging. every time you leave the battery on the charger overnight, what you are really doing is shortening the life of the battery and this will cause shorter stand-by and talk times. i realize you said the phone was pretty recent, but you did mention that it looked used and this may be the case. and if it's not the case, please follow this advise with any phone/battery you get in the future. it happened with my old phone/battery. now i h...
