LED when just active

Just got my 4500 (migrated from Motorola T720). I have not had it long enough to say much except that the speaker phone is great and the phone receives in my apartment (the T720 only received when I stood next to a window).

I have a question, though.

On Motorola, the light next the the antenna was green if your were connected, red if not (like in an elevator or deadspots). On the 4500, it is not any color. Am I missing something in the menus to turn it on. I did set it to various colors depending on calls, messages etc (cute feature) but did not see any option for it to just say I was not in a dead spot.

I have a 4500, too. I don't believe it has any type of light indicator as to whether there is service or not. The only thing it has is an alert (go under "Settings" then "Sounds" then "Alerts" then "Service Change"). I don't have my service change alert on, but it should beep (or something) when the phone changes service areas, like if you go from having service to having none. Hope this helps!

Now that I have gotten used to the ring I can hear it (I liked my motorola that said "you have a call"; somehow it is easier to hear than a ring in the din of NYC). And the vibrate is very strong.

I am waiting just a bit longer until I write my full review (cautious) but as far as I can see, there are many pros (the battery lasts forever with my low use) and the only two cons (screen is not great in the sun and the side buttons take some getting used to to not push by accident) are no big deal. Can't do an...
