Speaker phone poor sound?

I just got this phone & the speaker phone was a big factor in my decision. I've used it a couple of times and the callers always say they can't hear me well so I end up not using the speaker phone.

How close do you find you have to have the phone for it to work well on speaker? (I had it on my center console.) It was better on my lap but I don't want to have to do that.

Is this maybe a problem with my unit or am I expecting too much?

You might be expecting too much by putting it in the center console. With mine, it seems to be just barely out of range when I use it there. I usually end up resting my arm on the console and hold onto my phone. Clipped on to the visor might work better. With regard to speaker listening quality, mine seams a little on the ratty side if I put it up beyond med volume. While in the car it needs to be up as high as you can in order to hear it.

Something else just occured to me. I don't know if this in the book or not, but those plastic screen protector thingys have to be taken off your 4500. There are 3 of them. One obvious large one over the screen. The second one is over the shiny chrome egg shaped earpiece. The third is over the mic hole. If you don't take this last one off it will make your voice too soft. There really is one there. Just scrape over the little hole with your finger nail to lift it off.

Thank you so much! You were right on both counts - the visor is much better and I had not even noticed the plastic cover over the microphone!!!

Thank you for your help!!!!

I agree with everything that albee said with regards to the car use of speakerphone. Visor works better.

Also, thanks to albee for the heads up on the earpiece plastic cover. I missed that one.

LOL at 2Fingers, because I have to laugh at myself. I didn't know either about the plastic cover, but found out by accident.

I'm obsessive about polishing the front and inside LCD, I'm so worried about scratches, so I'm forever wiping them both down with a kleenex.

Well, at the earpiece, the second day, it looked scratched, and I was so mad that by the second day, my phone wasn't "perfect" anymore. As I tried to buff that part, something started to pull up, and it was the plastic thing. H...

😳 Do you park in handicapped spots, jees laughing at the handicapped and all? 😉
The screen is driving me crazy. I cannot figure out how this thing gets so dirty.

I'm kinda obsesssed with mobiles myself. I'm already looking for the next one. No fix lasts long for this habit.

🤣 Nope, don't park in the handicapped spots, I was laughing WITH you, not AT you! 😉

I actually volunteer with the physically disabled, training service dogs, so I have TOTAL respect for them.

Sooooo...what's the next phone we're gonna get, 2fingers? Hmmmmmmm????????

Oh yeah, one more thing, I find that every time I talk on the phone, my face leaves oil on the screen "mucking" it up. Geesh....can I never keep it clean? 😕
