The "vanilla" screen brightness widget I refer to is a part of the Android power control widget. There are 5 features it controls: wireless, bluetooth, GPS, data sync, and brightness. The DINC2 does have this widget, but I discovered yesterday, that the brightness control does not have the Auto brightness feature for some reason. Not sure why it's not included with the widget on this phone, especially since Auto brightness IS an option in power settings. And yes, setting it to Auto would definitely increase your battery life, specifically if you weren't always manually adjusting the brightness with one of the widgets.
I don't even give a passing thought to cases. I would have been seriously ticked off to be one of those iPhone owners who had to put a case on their phone. That thing woulda been returned so fast lol... I'm just not a case person. I like my phone in it's natural state Very Happy. I am really hoping the problem is unique to a few defective phones so I can exchange mine, and if not, that it won't affect my service. So far, still no problems. I need to start calling people on it though, to be sure.
