Motorola e398, stateside availability -->

by Walka    Jul 6, 2004, 8:08 PM

hello everyone,

long time lurker, first time posting. ive been following the whole motorola trend for a while and for a bit i was completely torn between the e398 and the v710 (or 810) for a new phone. the decision would have determined which carrier i subscribed to as well. needless to say, i have my heart set on the e398 and therefore the GSM networks.

reading the specs of the phone, i notice that it doenst have a 800 or 850 mhz mode which we use here in the states. there is 900, but i believe that is Euro/Asia.

couple of questions..

1) supposively there is a stateside model with 800/850. anyone have any info regarding this release and its availability?

2) assuming that the 800/850 model isnt delivered for quite a while, what kind of phone experience will i have without the 800/850? i am located in New England, so coverage digital coverage is pretty good, but should i risk it? I would hate to spend $350 on a phone that i am going to be frustrated with.

basically, should i wait for the US model, or get the Euro model and sacrifice 800/850?

thanks everyone!
walka
